BIG SOUTH HONORS WYATT AS MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Radford's Vincent Wyatt was named the Big South Men's Track Athlete of the Year Friday morning. The award is annually given to the league's top male track performer.

Wyatt had a season for the records book, claiming 10 individual titles and setting the conference record for the 110-meter hurdles. Just last week, the junior placed sixth in the 110-meter hurdles at nationals to claim first-team All-America accolades. It was Radford's best-ever individual finish at the national meet. Wyatt clocked a 13.60, which tied the school and Big South record for the event. He became the program's eighth All-American in the process.

The Big South selected Wyatt as its male track athlete of the week six times this year. He won the 60-meter hurdles title at the Big South indoor championships for the first conference crown of his career and advanced to the semifinals of the USATF Indoor National Championships.

Wyatt carried the momentum from his tremendous indoor season into the outdoor portion of the schedule. He prevailed in his first two meets and finished fourth at the prestigious Texas Relays. His success culminated with a trip to Eugene, Ore. and a chance to compete for a national title.

With the league's top track honor, Wyatt joins Goran Nava as the only other Highlander to earn the distinction. Wyatt is set to race at next week's USATF Outdoor National Championships (June 25-29) in Sacramento, Calif.
