RADFORD, Va. -- Coming off a successful “spring break” trip, Radford softball returns home from a 16-game road swing to host in-state rival James Madison for a twinbill Wednesday, March 16 at 3 p.m. from RU Softball Field.

The Highlanders (13-8) went 10-2 on their recent 10-day road trip and have won 11 of their last 13 which included a nine-game winning streak.

The Dukes (13-7) split on the final day of the Wolfpack Challenge and look to get back on track having dropped three of their last four contests after reeling off six of seven.

Radford closed out the USF Under Armour Showcase with a 4-3 victory over Robert Morris on Sunday morning. The Highlanders scored four runs in the bottom of the first to erase and early 1-0 deficit and hang on for the one-run win. Over the three day tournament, the Highlanders went 3-2 with victories over La Salle and Connecticut and defeats to then-No. 16 Nebraska and Long Island.

For the week, Radford went 5-2 which included a mid-week doubleheader sweep against Toledo. Five Highlanders batted .300 or better last week led by Lauren Williams (.417) and Nichole Beall (.381). Williams scored six runs, while Beall hit a pair of home runs and knocked in seven.

The week before, the Highlanders went undefeated at the USF Under Armour Classic, posting a perfect 5-0 record and enjoying their first undefeated tournament at USF in program history.

The Highlanders head up the road to Botetourt, Va. to host the Radford Invitational from March 18-20 at the Botetourt Sports Complex. Radford welcomes Georgetown, Ball State, Delaware, Pittsburgh and Robert Morris for this three-day, six-team tournament.
