COLUMBUS, Ohio –
No. 8 Ohio State's persistent offensive attack tallied two goals in each half to take a non-conference win over Radford women's soccer, 4-0, Sunday afternoon at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

For the first time as a Highlander, Columbus native Lisa Lubke (Columbus, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales) returned to play in front of her hometown crowd.  In addition to making 11 saves, Lubke's highlights included a diving stop to the far post in the 36th minute and she also came out of goal in diving efforts to prevent a score in the 77th on back-to-back shots.

“Ohio State is a program with so many elite athletes and we did our best to try and compete with them,” commented Lubke.  “I don't think I can put into words what it's like to compete in front of my hometown crowd.  It was such a good feeling to play here and I'm so grateful to coach for this opportunity and to everyone who came out to support not just me, but our entire team.”

Radford (1-1) had a prominent scoring opportunity in the 50th minute when Julie Ruh'e (Monrovia, Md./Urbana) dribbled past defenders down the right side, but her shot sailed just wide.

Ranked eighth by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, Ohio State (2-0) jumped on the board early in the first half (3'), 1-0, when Aly Walker finished inside the near post off a cross from ten yards out.  They would add another goal ten minutes later (13') by Kiiri Kuld and two more goals in the 62nd and 76th.

“This was a good experience for us to play a team of this caliber,” said head coach Ben Sohrabi.  “Going forward, I think this will make us a more physical and quicker team and we learned some valuable lessons today.  Lisa make some great saves today and I'm extremely happy for her to have this homecoming.”

The Highlanders return home to Cupp Stadium on Friday, Aug. 26 to take on the Francis Marion Patriots.  Game time is set for 7 p.m.
