DRAKE NETS FIRST COLLEGIATE GOAL; UNBEATEN STREAK EXTENDED TO 11

BOX SCORE ROCK HILL, S.C. – Junior Tyler Drake's first collegiate goal in the 89^th minute helped Radford salvage a 1-1 tie at Winthrop in Big South action Saturday afternoon from Eagle Field. The draw extended the Highlanders' (10-2-2, 6-0-2) unbeaten streak to 11 matches, a new single-season record.

With the clock winding down, senior Mary Wiley sent a corner kick to the far post that found Drake's head for the equalizer with 1:31 left on the clock. It was Wiley's team-leading fifth helper.

It came after Krystina Freda scored in the 78^th minute to put the Eagles (7-6-2, 4-2-2) up 1-0 in a back-and-forth contest that did not see many attempts on frame. Just minutes earlier, Winthrop had its first golden opportunity, but Allie Vandewater's shot rung off the far post and away from danger.

The teams went into the break deadlocked at zero with Winthrop holding a 5-3 edge in shots, zero on goal. Radford's best opportunity came off the head of Wiley, but her attempt off a set piece hit the crossbar.

Junior keeper Che' Brown finished with four saves as did her counterpart Sarah Schippers. Wiley paced Radford's 14-shot attack with five.

Coupled with a High Point victory over Longwood, the Highlanders are now in a first-place tie with the Panthers with three matches to go in the season.

Radford returns home on Thursday, Oct. 19 to host Longwood at 7:00 p.m.
