With three matches left on the schedule, Radford women's soccer is in a highly competitive race for the regular season title and a Big South Tournament first-round home contest. First place is on the line Thursday night when the Highlanders (10-2-2, 6-0-2 Big South) host third-place Longwood. Radford closes out its road schedule on Saturday, traveling to Liberty, which still has a chance at the top spot. Both matches are scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
Thursday's contest is Breast Cancer Awareness Night. Fans are encouraged to show their support by wearing pink. Also, the first 100 fans will receive a free a RU Think Pink T-Shirt.
A LOOK AT RU: A pair of late goals helped Radford extend its unbeaten streak to a new single-season record 11 matches after it posted a 1-0-1 record at Gardner-Webb and Winthrop… The tie ended a six-match winning streak… Radford is tied for first with High Point and are three points ahead of Longwood…
Rachel Conway scored the game-winner in the 87
th minute against the Runnin' Bulldogs and
Tyler Drake, who assisted on Conway's strike, headed home the equalizer in the 89

th in the NCAA in shutout percentage (.571) and 28
th in scoring offense (2.21)… In the Big South,
Che' Brown is ranked first in save percentage (.828), tied with Liberty's Karen Blocker with seven shutouts and second in GAA (0.83).
A LOOK AT LONGWOOD: The Lancers (11-5, 6-2) sit in third place three points behind the Highlanders and Panthers… Last week, Longwood defeated Campbell, 1-0, and lost at High Point, 2-0… The defeat snapped a three-match winning streak… In league play, the Lancers are 6-0 when they score… Kelsey Pardue leads the Lancers offensively with six goals and five assists for 17 points… Four of her six goals are game-winners, ranking second in the Big South… Between the pipes, Kyra Byron is ranked third with a 0.95 GAA and six shutouts and has posted a .803 save percentage.
A LOOK AT LIBERTY: The Lady Flames (10-6-1, 4-3-1) split a pair of overtime road contests, falling at High Point, 1-0, before rebounding versus Campbell, 2-1… Liberty is currently sixth, two points out of fourth and five from third… The Flames are at VMI on Thursday before Saturday's match… Karen Blocker has played every minute in goal and tops the league with a 0.81 GAA and seven shutouts (tie) and is second in save percentage (.823)… Jaime Bouffard leads the Flames offense with five goals and 12 points… Lauren Stell and Helena Pereira each have four scores, while Brittany Aanderud has served up a team-best five assists.
THE SERIES: This will be the first Big South contest in a recent rivalry with Longwood that started in 2004… The Lancers own a 5-3 lead in the series… Radford is 2-2 at Cupp Stadium against Longwood with the Lancers winning the last matchup in 2010… Radford leads the series with Liberty, 14-7-3, winning four of the last five meetings… RU is 6-4-2 in Lynchburg, winning last season's matchup and snapping a six-match road winless streak (0-4-2) in the series.
LAST YEAR: In 2011, Radford defeated Longwood, 1-0, in Farmville for its first road win in four tries… The Highlanders upended the Lady Flames twice with a 3-2 regular season win in Lynchburg, before a 4-1 triumph in the Big South semifinals.
