Radford steps out of conference play for the final time in 2012, and looks to extend an eight-match unbeaten streak, when the Highlanders head to Virginia Tech tonight for a 7 p.m. contest.

Over the eight game unbeaten stretch, the Highlanders (8-2-4) are 6-0-2 – Radford tied No. 25 High Point 0-0 (2OT) on Saturday night to keep the streak alive.

Tuesday's game is also the return to a two-games-a-week schedule for the Highlanders, who had a week to prepare for High Point.

"It is a quick turnaround and we have a very tough run of games," head coach Marc Reeves said.  "Our team has been committed to daily work ethic and maximizing our potential and we are hopeful we can still play even better in the last few vital games."

Radford's rivalry with Virginia Tech is the longest-running series in the program's history.   In what was once known as the “Battle for the New River Rock,” the Hokies (5-7-3) lead the all-time series 21-12-2.  However, the Highlanders have taken two of the last three matches – both at Cupp Stadium.  Radford will look for its first win in Blacksburg since 1998.

In last season's matchup, Luis Grande scored both Radford goals, staking the Highlanders to an early 2-0 lead in their eventual 2-1 victory.  Grande, the team's top returning scorer from 2011, has been out since Sept. 14 with an injury.

Following Tuesday's match, the Highlanders play three straight Big South matches at home to close out the regular season.  That stretch begins on Saturday, as Radford welcomes in Coastal Carolina at 2 p.m. – the Chanticleers were ranked No. 11 in last week's Soccer America Division I poll.
