MEN'S SOCCER HOSTS PRESBYTERIAN ON SATURDAY

LIVE STATS | BIG SOUTH NETWORK VIDEO | @RUGameDay updates

Tied for first place after three Big South matches, Radford looks to continue its solid play of late when the Highlanders host Presbyterian College in a Fall Homecoming matchup on Saturday night at 6 p.m.

The game caps Radford University's Fall Homecoming and Family Weekend festivities, a weekend that includes the RU Athletics Hall of Fame induction of former men's soccer star Ian Spooner (1991-92, 1994-95).

The Highlanders' (5-2-3, 3-0 Big South) strong play has come as the schedule has picked up – Radford is in the middle of five straight weeks with two games in each week.

“At this stage of the season with classes, travel and multiple games in a week, it's important that we do not have any let downs in our preparation or daily commitment and that we continue to get good leadership from our upperclassmen,” head coach Marc Reeves said.  “We have a tough home game on Saturday and want to play well in front of the many alumni who are returning for the well-deserved induction of Ian Spooner into the RU Athletics Hall of Fame.”

HIGHLANDER NOTES

  • With a victory, Radford would have its best Big South start since 2005 – the Highlanders went 5-0 to start league play that season.    In Marc Reeves' first season in 2010, Radford picked up three straight wins to begin Big South action.
  • Bernardo Ulmo has run his match scoring streak to eight tallies in eight games – his eight goals this season are one shy of Iyiola Awosika's team-leading nine last year.
  • Ulmo enters the week tied for the Big South lead in goals and points (17) – Ulmo was ranked 12th in the nation in scoring as of Tuesday's NCAA statistical report.
  • Following Wednesday's win at Longwood, Chel Ho Park Kim has 12 career assists – he's only two away from cracking the school's career top-10.  Park Kim has four assists this year.

THE MATCHUP

  • Presbyterian (3-8-0, 2-1) and Radford meet for the fifth time on Saturday – each team has won its two home matches in the series (2-2).
  • The Blue Hose improved to 2-1 in Big South play with a 3-2 win at home over UNC Asheville on Wednesday night.   With six points, Presbyterian is tied for fifth in the league standings.
  • Radford has more than doubled Presbyterian's goal-scoring this season – the Highlanders have 20 goals in 10 matches, while the Blue Hose have nine tallies in 11 matches.
