WYATT AND DOOMS SET SCHOOL RECORDS AT AKRON INVITATIONAL

AKRON, Ohio
Freshman Vincent Wyatt set the 60m hurdles school record and Allen Dooms broke the 60-meter dash record to highlight Radford track and field's trip to the Akron Invitational on Saturday. 
 
Wyatt, who broke the 8-second mark for the first time in history, became Radford's top all-time hurdler by clocking a 7.95 and posted a second-place finish.  Dooms set the new standard in the 60m with a 6.88 in the preliminaries and went on to finish third in the finals with a 6.92.
 
Curtis Hodge crushed his personal-best in the weight throw by over two feet and finished runner-up with a mark of 18.12m / 59-05.50.  On the women's side, Aimee Veatch threw 17.80m / 58-04.75 to grab eighth place.
 
Joseph Betts broke into Radford's all-time Top-10 by recording the eighth fastest 200m time, 22.13.  Betts would finish eighth in the event.
 
Jamiecka Baker finished runner-up in the triple jump, spanning 11.11m / 36-05.50. 
 
Kaise White posted a Top-5 showing in the 400m with a time of 49.05.
 
In the women's 60m hurdles, Courtni Pannell ran an 8.80 in the finals to place sixth after an 8.83 qualifying time.  
 
Tehquin Warrick shed nearly two seconds off his previous best time in the 400m and finished third (49.56).  Brett Olinger also turned in a solid performance, placing seventh in the same event with a 50.09.
 
Eric Graves set a new personal-best in the 800m, where he clocked a 1:56.49, bettering his old previous best of 1:59.30. 
 
Shalonda Mitchell broke 2:20.00 for the first time in her collegiate career with a 2:19.00, good for eighth place.  Kayla Christian also set a new personal-best (25.78) in the 200m, which was good for fifth place. 
 
Brian Gorwitz finished third and ran a 4:23.86 in the mile to highlight the men's distance races.  Elsewhere in men's distance,Ryan Farnan took a sixth-place showing in the 5000m with a time of 15:28.67.
