TRACK AND FIELD TAKES THE OUTDOORS THIS WEEKEND

LIVE RESULTS

RADFORD, Va. – After completing its indoor season and following a two-week break, Radford track and field will compete in its very first outdoor meet March 16-17 in the Wake Forest Open.

Throws will once again be strong, as three-time Big South Hammer Throw Champion Aimee Veatch will compete in her last full outdoor season in the red and white.  The two-time regional qualifier is one of the most decorated track and field athletes at Radford, having eight Top-10 hammer distances, including the school record at 58.07m / 190-06.00.   Furthermore, she has eight total all-conference honors in her career and six of those eight have been top podium showings.

Radford returns Big South 400m Hurdles Champion and NCAA First Round participant Brett Olinger.  Olinger owns nine of the Highlanders' Top-10 times in program history and set the school record a year ago with a 52.33 at the Big South Championships.  He is also a vital member of the 4x400m relay team, which is always a factor at conference.

In the 110m hurdles, freshman Vincent Wyatt looks to make his mark during his first collegiate outdoor season.  He became one of three athletes in league history to surpass the 8-second mark during indoor 60m hurdles and also took third-place at conference.

Nikki Roseberry will vie for another spectacular outdoor season.  The 5-foot-4 high jumper tied her own school record at 1.75m / 5-08.75 in the Radford Invitational, breaking the facility record in the process.  She will once again have an opportunity to replicate the performance at this year's Highlander Invitational held Apr. 27-28 at Cupp Stadium Track.

Courtni Pannell, all-conference in the 100m hurdles, returns for her sophomore campaign.  She posted three of Radford's Top-10 marks in her first year, including the 14.31 that earned her third place at the Big South Championships.

Kaise White placed runner-up in the 400m a year ago at the championships.  He finished with eight Top-5 performances and won the 400m at two meets.  White will be joined by a fast sprints crew of Allen DoomsTehquin Warrick and Joseph Betts, who all earned league honors during their first indoor season.

On the women's side, Kayla Christian and Lakei Crews will lead the short sprints.  Crews is coming off a personal-best indoor season, where she put four times in the all-time Top-10.  Christian has PR's of 12.40 and 25.25 in the 100 and 200m, respectively.

Brian Gorwitz and Caroline Ratterree will head the distance squad.  Last year, Gorwitz qualified for U.S. Junior Nationals and had two victories in the 5000m and one in the 1500m.  Ratterree will compete in the 1500m and 3000m, where she recorded personal-best times of 5:20.83 and 11:30.33 last year.

Phillip Hovatter, Radford's decathlon school-record holder, will again highlight the multi events.  He placed fifth at last year's Big South Championships.
