Live Stats

RADFORD, Va. --
Radford Softball is set to open up its home season when the Highlanders host Binghamton and Lehigh on March 17 and 18 as part of the 2012 Radford Invitational this weekend at RU Softball Field.

After the Bearcats (6-8) and Mountain Hawks (8-8) begin play each day at 12:00 pm and 10:00 am, respectively, Radford will do battle with each opponent following the conclusion of the first games.

The Highlander official home opener will take place at about 2 p.m. on Saturday against the Mountain Hawks, followed by a contest against the Bearcats. On Sunday, Radford's opponents will be reversed, taking on BU at noon and Lehigh at 2 p.m.

Radford is coming of a 4-5 spring break trip to Hawai'I, which included a victory over then-No. 20 Florida State during the Bank of Hawai'i Invitational. The Highlanders also earned victories over UC Santa Barbara, Robert Morris and Marist.

During their trip, senior Nichole Beall became Radford's all-time home runs leader on March 2 with her 43rd off of Hawai'i's Stephanie Ricketts. She would hit one more against the Rainbow Wahine's hurler and now sits at 44 long balls. On the season, she leads the team, batting .447 with 5 home runs, 9 RBI and 16 runs scored.

Following the tournament, the Highlanders will hit the road for their first Big South contest of 2012. The 3-time regular season champions will take on the 2011 tournament title holders, Liberty at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21.
