MEN’S GOLF IN FIFTH AFTER FIRST DAY OF C&F BANK INTERCOLLEGIATE

DAY 1 RESULTS
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Michael Wade shot a Top-10 round and Radford is currently fifth after the first day of men's golf action at the C&F Bank Intercollegiate on Sunday.
Radford carded a five-over 289, its fifth round this year in the 280's and was the second lowest team score to open an event in 2011-12. The Highlanders are only seven strokes behind the team leader Missouri, who charted a 282. Furthermore, Radford is fifth among 29 total teams and is ahead of two other Big South squads.
Wade used two birdies to record a one-under 71 and is tied for ninth overall. He birdied the par-4 first and par-5 seventh and shot one-over on the back nine. It was his 12th round at or under par this season. In addition, Wade is well ahead of his eight total rounds in the red last season.
Weston Eklund used five birdies against five bogeys to hand in a solid scorecard at even par 71 and is tied for 14th overall in a 149-player field. Eklund has shot 75 or lower in every opening round this year.
In his first action of the spring, Wade Wawner returned to the Radford lineup and tied his season-low 18-hole score at two-over 73 - also his lowest opening round tally this year. He sits in a tie for 37th place heading into the second round.
Callum Tarren charted the fourth score for Radford with his four-over 75 and is tied for 64th.
Second round action gets underway tomorrow with a 9:15 tee time. Live results can be found at golfstat.com.
