SOFTBALL BEGINS SIX-GAME HOMESTAND WITH PRESBYTERIAN

LIVE STATS

RADFORD, Va. --
Radford Softball begins a six-game homestand this weekend when it hosts Presbyterian in a three-game Big South series. The Highlanders (22-12, 7-2 Big South) welcome the Blue Hose (13-22, 5-5) for a doubleheader on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and conclude with a single game at RU Softball Field on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

Radford is coming off a split at Virginia in which it won game two in convincing fashion, 12-1 in five innings. Freshman Micalah Sacre provided a bang at the plate and in the circle. She launched home runs in her first two at bats and finished 4-for-4 with five RBI and two runs scored. Toeing the rubber, Sacre struck out eight and limited the Cavaliers to a run on three hits.

She also got some help offensively from Nichole BeallVicki Madden and Jess Agee. Beall and Madden went 2-for-3 with two RBI apiece. Beall tripled and scored three times, while Madden homered and tallied a pair of runs. Agee doubled, drew two walks and crossed the plate twice.

The Highlanders lead the series 8-1 after sweeping the Blue Hose in Clinton last season and have won the last six contests.

Presbyterian is coming off a pair of home losses to Furman in doubleheader action on Tuesday. Prior to that, the Blue Hose did sweep Winthrop in a Big South series at home last weekend. They also own two league victories over Charleston Southern.

After this weekend, Radford steps out of conference for a non-conference doubleheader against UNCG on Tuesday (4:00) and completes its homestand versus Virginia Tech on Wednesday (7:00).
