RUNNER-UP SHOWINGS HIGHLIGHT FIRST DAY OF HIGHLANDER INVITATIONAL

RESULTS

RADFORD, Va. –
A pair of runner-up showings in the long jump highlighted the first day of Radford track and field action in the second annual Highlander Invitational Friday afternoon from Cupp Stadium Track.

With a leap of 6.68m/21-11.00, freshman Chris Henry took runner-up honors in the men's long jump.  On the women's side, Kayla Christianposted her second furthest jump of the season with a 5.44m/17-10.25 distance.  Her mark also earned her a second-place showing.

In the javelin, Jessica Barron took eighth to lead a group of Highlanders with a 23.52m/77-02 personal-best throw.  Her mark came on the very first attempt of the day and was only the second time she has ever competed in the event – the other coming in last year's home meet.

Lindsey Noe hit a 3.05m/10-00.00 clearance in the women's pole vault for the fourth time this outdoor season and placed eighth overall.

In the discus, Alyssa Isham threw 34.93m/114-07 to own a seventh-place finish.

The second and final day gets underway tomorrow at 12 noon with the 4x100m relays.  Fans can watch live results here.
