MEN'S SOCCER CLOSES OUT PRESEASON WITH 2-0 LOSS TO JMU

James Madison scored in each half to pick up a 2-0 win over Radford in the Highlanders' final exhibition match on Saturday at Cupp Stadium.

Josh Grant scored the first half goal for the Dukes and later assisted on Tom Fouhy's goal in the second half.

"JMU is a well coached team that has very good players who compete well and know how to win games,” head coach Marc Reeves said.  “This was another very good preseason game for our guys to learn from. We need a great week of training to be ready for a very tough start at UMBC."

Both teams had long spells of possession, but few scoring chances were created.  The Highlanders had their best scoring opportunity in the second half when a ball into the box made its way through to freshman Joe Mayer with just the JMU keeper to beat, but he made the save to keep Mayer off the board.

Dane Wilson played the first half in goal for the Highlanders, while Ryan Taylor played the second.

Radford, which finished the preseason 1-1, opens up the 2012 regular season on Saturday (August 25) at UMBC – kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
