HIGHLANDERS HOST MIAMI IN EXHIBITION TUESDAY NIGHT

RADFORD, Va. - Radford women's soccer will get their first taste of competition at 7 p.m. tonight when the Highlanders host the Redhawks of Miami (Ohio) on the pitch of Cupp Memorial Stadium.

Coming off a 2011 Big South Championship, Radford returns 10 starters to a squad that tied for the league's regular season title the past two seasons and finished 2011 with a league-record eight wins (8-2) and a 15-6-1 overall mark.

In addition, the Highlanders return their top three goal scorers and distributors to an offense that saw 19 different players record a goal or an assist, while the entire defensive unit reunites after posting 12 clean sheets and a 0.94 goals against average.

Joining the experienced group of veterans will be a group of 11 talented freshmen, who will be seeing their first collegiate action of their young careers.

Following a road exhibition at George Mason on Friday at 7 p.m., the Highlanders open their 2012 campaign on Friday, Aug. 17 hosting Howard University at 7 p.m.
