
MEN’S GOLF IN NINTH, EKLUND TIED FOR 10TH HEADING INTO FINAL ROUND

FLORENCE, S.C. – The Radford men's golf team carded a 5-over 581 (289-292) through two rounds of play at the Raines Development Group Intercollegiate and sits in ninth place. 36 holes were played on Monday at the par 72, 7,062-yard Country Club of South Carolina.
Weston Eklund leads the Highlanders in the clubhouse with a 2-under 142 (72-70). The senior is tied for 10th entering tomorrow's final round. Eklund logged nine birdies through 36 holes, which is tied for second-best in the field of 85 golfers.
Tied for 36th are juniors Callum Tarren and Matt Harman. Tarren shot consecutive 73's for a two-round total of 2-over 146. After carding an even-par 72 in the morning, Harman recorded a 2-over 74 in the second round.
Playing in his first collegiate tournament, Conner Hayden finished with a 7-over 151 (72-79) to tie for 63rd. His first-round 72 included an eagle. Senior Wade Wawner shaved eight strokes off his first-round score in the evening session to turn in a 158 (83-75).
Gardner-Webb blistered the links for a 12-under 564 (283-281) and takes a four-shot lead over Old Dominion heading into Tuesday. First-round leader Georgia College slipped to third with a 570 (281-289). Loyola (Md.) and North Alabama round out the top five teams at 575 and 576, respectively.
The Runnin' Bulldogs placed three of their golfers on the first page of the leaderboard with Matthew Yelverton leading the way at 8-under-par. Yelverton's two-round ledger of 136 puts him in a tie for first with Loyola's Brendan Lemp.
The final round gets underway tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m.
