
EKLUND TIES FOR FOURTH, HIGHLANDERS FINISH NINTH IN SOUTH CAROLINA

FLORENCE, S.C. – Senior Weston Eklund carded a 3-under 69 in the final round of the Raines Development Group Intercollegiate on Tuesday to finish tied for fourth. The Radford men's golf team finished ninth out of 16 teams on the par 72, 7,062-yard Country Club of South Carolina.
Eklund finished with an aggregate score of 211 (72-70-69) to post his sixth career Top-5 showing. The Charlottesville, Va. native led the field in par-4 scoring at 3-under-par. He also tied for second in the field with 13 birdies through 54 holes.
Junior Callum Tarren fired a 221 (73-73-75) to finish tied for 38th, while freshman Conner Hayden tallied a 222 (72-79-71) to finish tied for 45th.
Junior Matt Harman ended up tied for 60th at 226 (72-74-80) and senior Wade Wawner turned in a 238 (83-75-80) to finish 82nd.
The Highlanders carded an 876 (289-292-295), eight shots out of the top five. Big South rival Gardner-Webb won the event with a 14-under 850 (283-281-286).
The Runnin' Bulldogs were fueled by Daniel Kim and Matthew Yelverton. The two teammates tied for first with Old Dominion's Jamison Randall at 7-under-par.
First-round leader Georgia College battled back to finish second at 10-under-par. The Monarchs, North Alabama, and Jacksonville rounded out the Top-5 teams.
Up next for Radford is the Joe Agee Invitational on Sept. 24-25. The 54-hole tournament will be hosted by William & Mary and contested at Colonial Heritage Golf Club in Williamsburg, Va.
