MEN'S SOCCER SET TO HOST CAMPBELL IN BIG SOUTH OPENER

LIVE STATS | @RUGameDay UPDATES | BIG SOUTH NETWORK VIDEO

Radford opens up the Big South portion of its schedule and closes out a three-game homestand on Saturday night at Cupp Stadium when the Highlanders host Campbell at 6 p.m.

The Highlanders (2-2-2), who have played three-straight overtime matches, are looking for their first win in three outings and seeking a conference-opening win for the third time in as many years when they welcome the Camels (4-1-1).

“The non-conference schedule was about improving, working things out and being consistent,” head coach Marc Reeves said.  “But now we're playing for points in the standings, whether it's earning all three by winning or one with a tie.   So we need to ensure that we can tighten things up, even though we have a really tough start with a fantastic team like Campbell.”

HIGHLANDER NOTES

Radford is looking for its first home win of the season after going 0-1-1 in two matches last weekend – the Highlanders tied Marist 2-2 on Friday night before falling 1-0 in overtime to Marshall on Sunday.

The Highlanders have now been involved in four overtime games this season – they played in four total OT matches a year ago.

Entering Sunday's match against Marshall, Bernardo Ulmo scored goals in three straight games (vs. Adelphi, at ETSU, Marist) – he begins the weekend as the team's leading scorer and is one of nine Big South players with three or more goals.

Home success has been well-documented for the Highlanders since 2010 – Radford has an 8-2-3 record at Cupp Stadium over that stretch.  However, their home record is just as impressive in league games, a 5-1-2 mark over the past two seasons.

THE MATCHUP

Last season was the first time that Radford and Campbell matched up as Big South members since 1993 – the Highlanders rode an own goal in the 49th minute and a 65th minute strike from Ulmo to a 2-1 road win over the Camels.

Campbell's four wins this season include a 2-0 victory at No. 17 NC State on Tuesday night – it was the second positive result for the Camels against a nationally-ranked foe this season (8/24 - T 0-0 at No. 16 SMU).

The two sides are playing for the 21st time on Saturday – the Camels lead the all-time series 12-8.
