HIGHLANDERS ROLL PAST SOUTHERN VIRGINIA, 9-0

BOX SCORE RADFORD, Va. – Eight different players scored a goal and four more added assists as Radford Women's Soccer rolled past Southern Virginia, 9-0, on Friday evening from Cupp Memorial Stadium.

Julie Ruh'e registered two goals and an assist to pace a Highlander (4-2) offensive attack that generated 23 shots and eight corner kicks.
 
Seniors Megan Rhodes, Mary Wiley and Krissia Vasquez, along with sophomore Melissa Vogel sophomore Caitlin Kick and freshman Kim Harkins scored their first goals of the season, while sophomore Kara Nay  tallied her second of the year.
 
Wiley got things going for the Highlanders 4:07 into the match, finishing into a wide-open net during a 2v1 with Ruh'e. 11 minutes later, Ruh'e tickled the twine twice in a span of 22 seconds, to push Radford's lead to 3-0 in the 16th minute. Classmate Rachel Conway dished out helpers on both scores.
 
Radford would tack on three more in the first half on scores from Nay, Rhodes and Vasquez. Freshman Asyia Mitchell and sophomore Annabel Bergin each registered their first collegiate assists on the latter two strikes.
 
In the second half, Harkins (57'), Vogel (68') and Kick (90') found the back of the net for the first time in their young collegiate careers. Sophomore Cate Weaver and Vasquez assisted on the goals. It was Weaver's first collegiate helper and point.

Juniors Lexy Eckerle and Lauren Markey and freshman Sarah Davidow each saw time in goal for the Highlanders. Markey stopped the lone Southern Virginia shot on goal.

Makenzie Lundquist and Autumn Bronson split time in the net for the Knights (0-3), making three and two saves, respectively.

Radford will enjoy a 12-day hiatus before returning to action on Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. when it hosts High Point in the Big South opener for both squads.
