WOMEN'S SOCCER BATTLES CAMPBELL WEDNESDAY NIGHT IN BUIES CREEK

Coming off a 2-1 victory at Charleston Southern, Radford women's soccer continues its three-game Big South road swing at Campbell on Wednesday, Oct. 2. Kickoff from Eakes Athletics between the Highlanders (6-1-1, 2-0 Big South) and Camels (4-5, 0-2) is set for 7:00 p.m. and can be viewed for free on the Big South Network.
 
LAST TIME OUT: Radford rallied from an early 1-0 deficit and went on the defeat Charleston Southern, 2-1 on Saturday at Blackbaud Stadium giving head coach Ben Sohrabi his 200th career win. Senior Sydney Golden scored the equalizer in the 30th minute and then set up junior Kara Wade's game-winner in the 51st minute.
 
A LOOK AT RU: Following Saturday's win, Radford is 8-1-2 in regular season Big South games on the road the last two seasons… Add the five neutral/away tournament games, RU is 12-1-3 with a shootout victory… The win extended the Highlanders' regular season league unbeaten streak to 13 (9-0-4)… Wade became the 13th different Highlander to score a goal this season… Golden paces the RU offense with a team-best three goals, two assists and eight points… Golden has two game-winning goals and two assists on game-winners… Five other Highlanders have netted two goals… Freshman Melanie Priestley and senior Julie Ruh'e also have two assists … RU is on a streak of allowing two or fewer goals in a game over the last 27 matches and 40 of the last 42… The goal surrendered to CSU on Saturday snapped a seven-match (4 reg. season/3 tournament) shutout streak against conference opponents and over 725 minutes of shutout soccer during that stretch… With a pair of one-goal victories last week, Radford is 17-5 in one-goal contests since 2011.
 
THE CAMELS: Campbell was shutout in its first two league contests of the season and has dropped its last four matches, all coming away from Buies Creek… The Camels are 2-0 at home this season with triumphs over Francis Marion and Mount Olive… Payton Ormsby has registered a team-best four goals and nine points with Lilja Bjork dishing out a team-high four assists… Alexis Connors has posted a 2.13 GAA in 507:18 of action in net for the Camels.

THE SERIES: Radford has won the last three meetings and holds a 6-2 lead in series that dates back to 1992, but took a 16-year hiatus before Campbell returned to the Big South… Following a pair of non-conference contests in 2009 (L, 0-1) and 2010 (W, 1-0 OT), the Highlanders are 3-1 against Campbell since its return... The Highlanders won 3-0 (reg.) and 1-0 (BSC quarters) last season, while the Camels won 2-1 the last time they played in Buies Creek (2011)… That result is the only match that both teams scored with the other seven resulting in a clean sheet for the victor.
 
THE SERIES: The Highlanders wrap up their road swing on Saturday against in-state rival Longwood. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. from the Athletics Complex.
