RADFORD FACES NO. 6 COASTAL SUNDAY

|

The Radford men's soccer team travels Sunday to No. 6-ranked Coastal Carolina to face the Big South-leading Chanticleers. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m. at the CCU Soccer Field in Conway, S.C.

THE SERIES: Radford leads the all-time series 20-19-7 against its long-time Big South foe. The Chants have won two in a row in the series, both 4-1 victories in 2012 and 2011. The two teams tied in 2010, 1-1 in double overtime.

THE LAST TIME OUT: Radford's opening road contest in Big South play ended in a 1-1 tie Saturday night at Campbell. Bernardo Ulmo put the Highlanders in the lead in the 51st minute with his fourth goal of the season, but the Camels tied it in the 60th minute and neither team was able to score from that point.

THE CHANTICLEERS: Coastal Carolina is 10-2 on the season, ranked sixth in the nation, and has won 24 straight Big South regular season games.

THE HIGHLANDERS: Defense - Radford has given up just five goals in its last seven games, but that has equated to a 3-2-2 record in that span. The Highlanders have not given up multiple goals in a game since a 4-1 loss to No. 23 UMBC on Sept. 14.

Offense: Joe Mayer leads the Big South with three game-winning goals. With 6 goals and 2 assists for 14 points, he is tied for 3rd in the league in both goals and points. Bernardo Ulmo now ranks in the top 10 in the league with three goals scored on the season. Jamie Summers ranks tied for 7th in the conference with 3 assists on the season.
