RETTBERG SETS CAREER-BEST MARK AT ODU/OBX INVITATIONAL

POWELLS POINT, N.C. – Behind Ryan Rettberg's career-best 1-over-par 214 (70-71-73), the Radford men's golf team finished eighth out of 18 teams at the ODU/OBX Invitational following Tuesday's final round at the par 71, 6,550-yard Kilmarlic Golf Club.

Rettberg concluded the 54-hole tournament in a tie for 14th, which ties for his collegiate-best finish. He also tied for 14th at the Highlanders' last event, the Big South Preview.
One stroke behind Rettberg was Tanner Carbaugh, who fired a 2-over-par 215 (70-74-71) to tie for 19th. Callum Tarren tied for 34th at 219 (76-71-72) and Conner Hayden tied for 36th at 220 (77-70-73). Nick Brediger rounded out the lineup in a tie for 46th at 221 (73-72-76).

78th-ranked VCU used a final-round 13-under-par 271 to come from behind and win the team title. The Rams finished the three days at 9-under-par 843 (294-278-271). Maryland was second with its even-par 852 (294-284-274), followed by Hartford (853), Marshall (857), Elon (859) and Old Dominion (859).

Longwood was seventh at 861 (301-287-273), just one shot clear of Radford's 862 (289-284-289). James Madison finished ninth at 864 and Bowling Green State completed the top 10 at 869.

Logan Lagodich of Marshall claimed medalist honors after winning a one-hole playoff with VCU's Rocky Khara and ODU's Jamison Randall. The trio was tied after 54 holes at 6-under-par 207.

The Highlanders conclude their fall slate in a couple weeks (Nov. 3-5) at the Wendy's Kiawah Classic hosted by Charleston Southern at the Turtle Point Golf Course in Kiawah Island, S.C.
