RADFORD WRAPS UP REGULAR SEASON ON TUESDAY AT VMI

Having clinched at least a share of the Big South regular season title, Radford wraps up the league play on Tuesday with an afternoon road tilt at VMI. The Highlanders (13-2-1, 9-0-1 Big South) have secured the top seed for the Big South Tournament and with win or a tie against the Keydets (3-14-0, 1-9-0) they will claim the outright regular season title. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Melanie Priestley broke a 1-1 tie in the 64th minute and Radford clinched its third Big South regular season title in four seasons with a 2-1 victory over Winthrop on Senior Day at Cupp Stadium… With the victory, the Highlanders matched their home winning streak record (10) and extended their home undefeated streak to 18 matches (16-0-2)… Rachel Conway gave RU a 1-0 lead with a penalty kick in the 41st minute, but Winthrop tied it 41 seconds out of the break… Che' Brown made four saves.

A LOOK AT RU
Radford will be the top seed for the 2013 Big South Tournament… Clinched at least a share of the league regular season title (third in four years)... A win or tie against VMI, and Radford earns the title outright...The 12-1-1 start was best in program history... Following the Winthrop win, RU's senior class is 53-18-7 (.724) and 30-5-5 (.813) in the Big South… Nine conference wins is a league record, surpassing their own mark of eight… Started 8-0 in Big South play for first time in program history... 10 game home winning streak matches school record… That was just the second road loss (15-2-3) to a conference opponent since start of 2011 season... Since 2007, Radford is 25-3-5 in Big South regular season home games, including 21-1-3 the last four seasons… Had 25-match (20-0-5) and 12-game winning streaks against Big South opponents snapped with 1-0 loss at Coastal Carolina on Wednesday... That streak started in the 2011 Big South quarterfinals...  Undefeated last 18 home contests (16-0-2), which is a school record.... Had a nine-game and 894:23 shutout streaks snapped when Gardner-Webb converted a penalty shot in the 21st minute last Wednesday.

THE KEYDETS
VMI has dropped its last five matches… All three of the Keydet's wins have come at home, including a 2-0 league victory over Gardner-Webb… Kristen Whitehurst and Sydnie Bligh leads VMI with three and two goals, respectively… Meredith Baldasare has dished out a team-high two assists… Liz Nickerson and Emily Marbury have split time in goal this season… Nickerson has posted a 1.75 GAA with 54 saves in 875:14 of action.
 
THE SERIES
Radford owns a 10-1 lead in the series and is 4-1 in Lexington… The Highlanders have won the last three contests, including the last two via a shutout… RU defeated VMI, 4-0, in the last meeting a Patchin Field in 2011… Prior to that, the Keydets won their only contest in the series, 2-1 in Lexington on Oct. 30, 2009.
