WOMEN'S SOCCER HOSTS CHARLESTON SOUTHERN IN BIG SOUTH QUARTERFINALS

Following its third Big South regular season title in the last four years, Radford is the No. 1 seed and will host No. 8 Charleston Southern on Friday, Nov. 1 in quarterfinal action of the 2013 Big South Women's Soccer Tournament presented by Musco Sports Lighting. The Highlanders (14-2-1, 10-1-0 Big South) and Buccaneers (7-11-1, 4-7-0) are the first of four quarterfinals and will kick off at 7:00 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Radford wrapped up the regular season with a 3-0 win at VMI on Tuesday… Melanie Priestley, Rachel Conway and Lexi Denny scored for the Highlanders… It was Denny's first collegiate goal, becoming 14th Highlander to score this season… Lauren Hicks, Cate Weaver and Torrie Jackson dished out assists… RU's defense allowed just one shot on goal… Lauren Markey made lone save in 2nd half action

A LOOK AT RU
Won third regular season title in last four seasons (other finish was 2nd in '12)… 14 wins are third most in program history… Riding record home undefeated streak of 18 games (16-0-2)… The 12-1-1 overall and 8-0-0 Big South starts were the best in program history… League record 10 Big South regular season victories… 8-2 in one-goal games this season… Radford is on a 10-game home winning streak, tied for the program record… With Denny's goal and Weaver's assist, 14 different Highlanders have scored a goal & 21 have recorded a point… Priestley leads RU with six goals, four game-winners, all in conference play; has also scored the first goal for Radford in five of six contests… Ruh'e has a team-high five assists… Sydney Golden has five goals (3 game winners, one equalizer) and four assists (all coming on game-winners in league play)… Radford's senior class finished four years of Big South play with a 31-5-5 (.817) in Big South play.
 
BIG SOUTH TOURNAMENT
Have won five tournaments (1998, 2002, 2008, 2011, 2012)…18-11-5 all time in tournament… 2-1-1 as the No. 1 seed; Won 2011 as top seed (2-0-1)… 8-6-3 in quarterfinals… 17-9-4 under Ben Sohrabi… 1-2-1 at home, 1-1-0 at Cupp Stadium… Defeated Campbell, 1-0, in 2012 quarterfinal… Have recorded a shutout in last four tournament games

THE BUCCANEERS
The Buccaneers closed out the season with a 1-0 road loss at Coastal Carolina and have dropped three of their last four contests… CSU is paced offensively by Toni Lashley and Allison Lewis… Lashley has a team-best eight goals and 19 points, ranking tied for third and third in the conference, respectfully… Lewis has six goals and is tied with Chelsea Phillips for a team-high five assists… Dana McLaughlin leads the league in saves per game (7.15) and is third in totals saves (93) with 17 coming during the regular season match against the Highlanders.
 
THE SERIES
Radford topped Charleston Southern, 2-1 in a comeback win at Blackbaud Stadium during the regular season… Sydney Golden evened the contest in the first half and then set up Kara Wade's game-winner early in the second half… CSU ended Radford's 725 minute shutout streak against conference opponents.. Ben Sohrabi earned his 200th career win after the triumph… Highlanders own 15-6-5 lead in the series… Extended unbeaten regular season streak against the Bucs to 15 (11-0-4)… Radford is 2-0-1 in the Big South Tournament, all at Blackbaud Stadium… the one tie was a shootout victory by CSU

Should Radford win, the Highlanders will face the winner of the No. 4 Winthrop/No. 5 Coastal Carolina matchup on Friday, Nov. 8 in Conway, S.C., home of the 2013 Big South Championship presented by Musco Sports Lighting.
