The Radford men's soccer team begins play in the 2013 Big South Tournament at Gardner-Webb on Tuesday. The Highlanders are the No. 5 seed, and the Runnin' Bulldogs enter as the No. 4 seed. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. at Greene-Harbison Stadium in Boiling Springs, N.C.

THE EARLIER MEETING
RU scored a 2-1 overtime victory in Radford in the Big South opener for the Highlanders earlier in the season. Joe Mayer's goal in the 99th minute ended the game in favor of the Highlanders. Bernardo Ulmo had given RU the lead in the 55th minute before GWU's Denzel Clarke tied it a minute later.

These two teams met last year in the quarterfinal round in Radford. The Highlanders advanced with a 2-0 victory.

THE HIGHLANDERS
Radford closed the season with a pair of victories to earn the No. 5 seed. RU knocked off Liberty 2-1 in overtime on the road and then closed out the regular season with a 2-0 win over UNC Asheville on Senior Day at Cupp Stadium.

RU dominated the UNCA game posting a 31-7 advantage in total shots. The Highlanders put 16 of those on goal compared to just two for the Bulldogs. Both scoring chances for UNCA, however, were point blank shots that Dane Wilson turned away. Wilson earned his sixth career shutout.

Dario Redondo opened the scoring in the 30th minute with his first goal of the season. Bismark Amofah was credited with the assist on the play. Joe Mayer put a point blank shot on goal and it led to a rebounded own goal.

Radford clinched a berth into the Big South Tournament in dramatic fashion Wednesday with a 2-1 overtime victory at Liberty. Bernardo Ulmo converted the game-winner after Luis Grande forced a turnover.

After a scoreless first half, Daniel O'Keefe gave the Highlanders the lead in the 72nd minute with his first goal of the season.
