MEN'S SOCCER TO HONOR SEVEN SENIORS SATURDAY

|

LIVE STATS

Saturday, the Radford men's soccer program honors seven seniors and their families for their dedication and commitment to the program. The Highlanders kick off at 2:00 p.m. vs. UNC Asheville at Cupp Stadium.

THE HIGHLANDERS: Radford has clinched a berth in next week's Big South Tournament. The Highlanders will play on the road Tuesday, but do not know the location or the opponent at this time. The highest seed RU can finish is at No. 5.

THE BULLDOGS: UNC Asheville will not make it to this year's Big South Tournament, but the Bulldogs pulled off the upset of the season last week defeating previously unbeaten and untied Coastal Carolina. The Chanticleers were ranked in the top five in the country when UNCA knocked them off.

THE SERIES: Radford leads the all-time series 30-11-4.

THE SENIORS:

DANE WILSON
Wilson has played every minute in goal for the Highlanders in this, his senior season. His current 1.06 goals against average ranks him third in the Big South Conference. For his career, the physical therapy major has appeared in 25 games after transferring to Radford to begin his sophomore season. He has five career shutouts and made 72 saves as a Highlander.

BERNARDO ULMO
Ulmo is one of the most prolific goal scorers in Radford history having just moved into the top 10 all-time with 23 tallies in 74 games played for the Highlanders. As a junior he earned all-Big South honors, All-State of Virginia accolades, and the double major in management and finance also earned Scholar All-America honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

JAMES JORDAN
Jordan ranks as one of the finest defenders, when healthy, to complete for the Highlanders under Coach Reeves. He has appeared in 60 games for the Red and White and scored 5 goals with 3 assists for his career. Two of those goals served as game winners. A member of the Big South All-Freshman team in 2009 and an All-Tournament selection a year ago for the Highlanders, he is a Business Management major.

VITTORIO LAURETANO
Laurentano has seen action in 26 games during his career scoring one goal and handing out one assist. He is a valued member of the Highlanders program for the past four seasons.

JOE MAYER
Mayer joined the Highlanders as a transfer for his final two seasons and has emerged into a top point scoring threat for RU. In two seasons, he has tallied 11 goals and 5 assists, including 7 goals this senior season with 4 of those serving as game winners. Mayer also earned Big South Player of the Week honors earlier this season.

LUIS GRANDE
Grande is the senior captain of this year's team and has returned after a season-ending injury as a junior to lead the Highlanders in assists with 7 for the season. A Big South All-Freshman selection in 2010 and a second-team all-conference honoree in 2011, Grande has appeared in 59 contests for Radford and scored 13 career goals and handed out 16 career assists.

MATT JANSSEN
Janssen has started all but one of the 56 games he has played in for the Highlanders after transferring to Radford as a sophomore. He has scored 2 goals and notched an assist in his career. This year, he is the leader of a defensive unit that is giving up only 1.06 goals per game. Teams only average 12.6 total shots and 5.0 shots on goal per game against RU's back line.
