RU COMPLETES SWEEP OF KENNESAW STATE, 3-2

BOX SCORE KENNESAW, Ga. - Radford moved to 5-1 on the season and won its fifth-straight game Sunday completing a three-game sweep at Kennesaw State, 3-2. The Highlanders took the lead in the ninth, and Michael Costello slammed the door shut with his third save of the series.

Jeff Kemp doubled in two runs in the first inning, and RU starter Keith Fritz made that stand up for the better part of the afternoon. Fritz left in the sixth after giving up just three hits and two runs, with one of them unearned.

The Highlanders bullpen was up to the task again as James Woods, Oliver Powers, Daniel Bridgeman, and Costello shut out the Owls in the final 3.2 innings. Bridgeman (1-1) earned the victory.

Radford scored the game-winning run on a two-out error. Josh Reavis singled, stole second, and then scored when Nygeal Andrews' ground ball was misplayed at shortstop.

The win gives RU its first three-game sweep since last April when the Highlanders took a trio from Fairleigh Dickinson.

Radford returns to the New River Valley on Tuesday when it travels to Viginia Tech for a 3:00 start.
