WINNERS OF 4 OUT OF 5, HIGHLANDERS VISIT GMU FOR MIDWEEK TUSSLE

RADFORD, Va. - Radford visits George Mason on Tuesday for a 3:00 p.m. first pitch as the Highlanders hit the road after a 4-1 homestand that included a Big South series opening victory over VMI and a sweep of a two-game set with Iona.

Led by Big South Player of the Week, Jeff Kemp, the Radford offense has come to life averaging just over eight runs per game in their last five.

Kemp, a senior from Bowie, Md., batted .643 with four doubles, a triple and a home run to lead the Highlanders to a 4-1 record, including two Big South wins last week.  The Preseason Big South Co-Player of the Year posted a hit in all five games and went for multiple hits in three contests.  He finished the week with seven RBI, including two vs. Iona on March 12 and three against VMI on March 16.  In the field, the shortstop turned in 20 assists and four putouts.  The honor marks his first Big South Player of the Week nod this season.

The Highlanders have improved to 10-8 overall and are 5-2 on the road this season.

George Mason enters Tuesday's contest with a 9-10 overall record, but the Patriots are 7-3 at home.

GMU leads the all-time series 4-1.  The Patriots have won four straight in the series since Radford won the first-ever meeting of the two teams in 1990. The last time these teams met was in 2010, a 9-5 GMU victory.
