WYATT EARNS HONORABLE MENTION ALL-AMERICA HONORS

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. Sophomore Vincent Wyatt became Radford track and field's seventh All-American Friday night with his 16th-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships ran at the Randall Tyson Track Center on the campus of the University of Arkansas Friday evening.

In addition to becoming the first Highlander to qualify for the indoor season's national championships since Brian Richotte (weight throw) did so in 2006, Wyatt became Radford's first All-American since Kyle Morse in 2010 (hammer throw – outdoor).

Coming off his second straight All-Big South performance at the Big South Indoor Track and Field Championships, Wyatt continued his impressive run with his fifth runner-up showing this season at the VT Final Qualifier last Saturday at Rector Field House.

Entering the final qualifier, his top time of 7.76 was just inside the cut line for nationals. Following Saturday's results around the country, Wyatt's top time was enough to punch his ticket to Fayetteville, Ark.

Through the sophomore's seven meets, he has one title and five second-place showings (all in the 60-meter hurdles) to his credit.

The Atlanta, Ga. native holds all 10 of the top indoor marks for the event in program history, including the school record (7.76) ran at the VT Invitational on Jan. 18. His time was the fifth-fastest in the nation and the top mark in the Big South at the time, which earned him Big South Track Athlete of the Week.

Wyatt and the rest of the Highlanders now turn their attention to the outdoor season, which begins March 15-16 at the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C.
