COMEBACK WIN AT ETSU IS THIRD STRAIGHT FOR HIGHLANDERS

BOX SCORE JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - Jordan Taylor delivered a two-out two-run single in the top of the seventh to give Radford a 3-2 lead, and the Highlanders held on for a 4-2 win Monday night at East Tennessee State. The pair of runs knocked in were the first two of the season for the RU catcher.

The Highlanders spotted the Buccaneers a two-run lead in the second when ETSU tallied twice on back-to-back doubles and an RBI single.

Radford starter Mitchell MacKeith settled in after that and posted his best of three starts this season with 5.2 innings worked and scattering six hits. He gave up just the two runs in the second stanza.

His offense rallied to get him off the hook for the loss.

With one out in the fifth, RU recorded its first hit of the night, a triple for Alexander Lee. He later scored on a sacrifice fly by Hunter Higgerson to cut the Buc lead in half.

Oliver Powers relieved MacKeith with two outs in the sixth and on one pitch recorded the final out with two runners on base. The Highlanders took the lead for good in the seventh on Taylor's single, and Powers earned his first career win with one pitch. Jeff Maxwell came out of the bullpen to work the seventh. James Woods got one out in the eighth, and Michael Costello worked 1.2 innings to earn his sixth save of the season.

Ryan Burgess started the offensive rally in the seventh for RU. He doubled off the right field fence to lead off the inning. Zach Woolcock followed the a walk. They both moved into scoring position on Lee's groundout, which set up Taylor for his biggest hit of the season.

Radford (15-11) added an insurance run on a Burgess RBI single in the eighth.

The Highlanders travel Wednesday to North Carolina A&T for a 6:00 p.m. start.
