SOFTBALL LOOKS TO REBOUND AT PRESBYTERIAN

Radford looks to rebound from a mid-week doubleheader sweep as it travels to Presbyterian for a Big South series. The Highlanders (14-22, 7-5 Big South) and Blue Hose (18-21, 4-8) will play a doubleheader on April 13 and the finale on April 14. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. on each day.

LAST TIME OUT: The Highlanders were swept at home on Wednesday by Longwood, 9-1 (5) and 12-3… The Lancers jumped out to 8-0 and 7-0 leads after three innings in each contest as they completed the Big South series sweep… Freshman Casey Burns hit her first collegiate home run in the opener… Junior Jessie Hutchens launched her team-leading eighth home run in the night cap.

RU TIDBITS: Radford is currently in fifth place, a game behind Winthrop and two games up in the loss column on Liberty… It was just the third Big South series loss since 2008 (31-3) as Radford is 34-5 in league series since they were instituted in 2007… The outfield trio of Becky Mantel (CF), Morgan Eye (RF) and Ryndee Ruch (LF) have combined for 18 assists this season, eight of which have resulted in an out at home... Mantel leads the way with seven, five at home (four directly) and one at third... Eye has six three resulting in an out with runner who singled on play... Ruch (5) has thrown two runners out at the plate… Mantel was hit three times in the series final in Myrtle Beach and now sits just one shy of tying the single-season record of 13 held by Kristen Shifflett… Radford has outscored its opponents 20-2 in the second inning over the last 11 games... Prior to that, the Highlanders had been outscored 21-1 in the second frame.

THE BLUE HOSE: Presbyterian enters the weekend in seventh place… The Blue Hose were swept at home on Tuesday by Gardner-Webb, 11-8 and 2-0… The three-game series wraps up an eight-game homestand for PC… Leading PC is Erin Ruff, who is batting a team-best .351 with 29 RBI… Kersten Legacki has knocked in team-high 33 runs, while Shelby Petik has 29 RBI and a team-best 10 home runs… Kensley Loudermelk posts a team-high 74 strikeouts in 106 innings of work, while Cat Tarvin owns a team-best 3.85 ERA.

THE SERIES: These will be games 13-15 with the Highlanders owning a 10-2 advantage in the series... RU is 5-1 in Clinton, S.C., sweeping the last series in 2011... Radford won the 2012 series, taking the final two contests, 4-2 and 7-2 after dropping the series opener, 4-0 at RU Softball Field
