RADFORD, Va. - Radford plays its final home games of the 2013 season this weekend with a crucial Big South series vs. Charleston Southern. The Highlanders still have their sights set on a North Division title, and the Buccaneers are among the teams fighting for a berth into the Big South Tournament in a couple weeks. Friday's opener starts at 4:30 with the middle game of the series Saturday at 4:00. Sunday's finale is Senior Day at RU Stadium. First pitch is at 2:00.
RU is coming into the series having won three straight and alone in second place behind Campbell in the Big South North Division after sweeping Longwood last weekend in Farmville, Va. The Highlanders can overtake the Camels for first place if Liberty can defeat Campbell in at least one of their three-game series this weekend.
Charleston Southern comes in 19-28 overall and 8-10 in the Big South South Division. The Buccaneers are currently in fourth place in the division, but would hold the final spot in the conference tournament, if it were to start today.
The Highlanders will celebrate the careers of four student-athletes on Sunday for Senior Day. Derrick Brewer, Ryan Burgess, Keith Fritz, and Jeff Kemp, along with student manager Kaitlin Fields, will be honored prior to the start of the game. The Highlanders will also use pink bases on the field to celebrate and honor Mother's Day.
