
GOLF GALAXY VCU SHOOTOUT ON DECK FOR MEN’S GOLF

RADFORD, Va. – After two weeks off from tournament play, the Radford men's golf team returns to action Monday and Tuesday at the Golf Galaxy VCU Shootout hosted by Virginia Commonwealth University. The two-day tournament spans 54 holes at Hermitage Country Club (par 72, 6,955 yards) in Manakin-Sabot, Va.
Leading the Highlanders in their first tournament in Florence, S.C. with a 2-under-par 214 (67-72-75), sophomore Conner Hayden strives to build upon his first Top-10 of the season coming at the Country Club of South Carolina.
Two shots behind him, senior Callum Tarren posted an even-par 216 (73-72-71) en route to tying for 21st, while Tanner Carbaugh finished in 35th at 220 (72-76-72).
In his collegiate debut, freshman Nick Brediger tied for 41st at 223 (75-72-76). Redshirt junior Ryan Rettberg also finished at 223 (74-76-73). Matt Harman will compete as an individual in the tournament. The senior from Roanoke, Va. played in nine tournaments for the Highlanders last year with a 75.8 stroke average.
The field includes Central Connecticut State, George Mason, George Washington, Iowa State, James Madison, Maryland, Old Dominion, Richmond, UNC Greensboro, host VCU and Virginia Tech. The Hokies return as the defending champions after outlasting Wichita State by nine shots last season.
Golfstat will provide live scoring for the two-day event, which commences with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start for Monday's 36 holes. The final 18 holes will be played Tuesday beginning with another 8:45 a.m. shotgun start.
