BOX SCORE
ELON, N.C. - Elon's James Brace scored in the 19th minute, and despite outshooting the Phoenix in total shots and shots on goal, the equalizer never came for Radford in a 1-0 road loss to the No. 23 team in the country.
Radford head coach Marc Reeves said his team had its chances to knock off a nationally-ranked team on its home field.
"This was an evenly played game which was decided by a couple of big moments in front of goal that did not go our way tonight. We created some good chances and played well enough to get something from the game, especially in the second half."
The Highlanders outshot Elon 10-9 and put six shots on frame compared to four for the hosts.
"Elon is a fantastic team that is very talented and exceptionally well coached," Reeves said. "We have to show some resilience to take the tough result and be ready for another quality opponent in ETSU."
Radford hosts East Tennessee State on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. at Cupp Stadium.
