THREE-GAME BIG SOUTH ROAD SWING BEGINS SATURDAY IN CHARLESTON

Radford women's soccer embarks on a three-game road swing on Saturday when it travels to Charleston Southern on Saturday for its first Big South road match of the season. The contest will be played at Blackbaud Stadium and kick off at 4:00 p.m.
 
The Highlanders (5-1-1, 1-0-0 Big South) are coming off a thrilling 1-0 double overtime win over Presbyterian in their league opener at home on Wednesday, while the Buccaneers (3-5-1, 0-1-0) suffered a 1-0 loss at Liberty.
 
LAST TIME OUT: Melanie Priestley scored with just over a minute left in double overtime to give Radford a 1-0 win in its Big South opener over Presbyterian… Following a free kick service by senior Sydney Golden that hit the far post, Priestley and put home the rebound for the game-winner. Senior Che' Brown collected four saves for the shutout.
 
A LOOK AT RU: Radford is 7-1-2 in regular season Big South games on the road the last two seasons… Add the five neutral/away tournament games, RU is 11-1-3 with a shootout victory… The win extended Radford's unbeaten streak to seven games in Big South openers… It also extended 12-match league (8-0-4) and 14-match home (12-0-2) … That was Radford's 16th shutout in league regular season matches since 2011… 12 different Highlanders have scored this season… Priestley and five other Highlanders have netted two goals with the rookie striker leading the way with six points… Brown recorded her second shutout of the season and has posted a 0.66 GAA and .846 save percentage in 542:18 of action… RU is on a streak of allowing two or fewer goals in a game over the last 26 matches and 39 of the last 41… The clean sheet against PC was the seventh straight shutout against conference opponents (4 reg season/3 tournament) a streak of 722:43… With the 1-0 win, Radford is 23-6-6 in games decided by two goals or less since start of 2011, 16-5 and 7-1 in one and two-goal games, respectively…
 
THE BUCCANEERS: CSU dropped its league opener, 1-0, at Liberty on Wednesday… The Buccaneers return home after playing four of their last five on the road… They went 0-4-1 during that stretch after starting the season 3-1… The offense is led by Toni Lashley's four goals with Chelsea Phillips and Chelsea Frankeny adding three each… In goal, Dana McLaughlin has started eight matches and logged 751:17 of action with a 1.44 GAA and .821 save percentage, recording both CSU shutouts.

THE SERIES: The Highlanders own a 14-6-5 lead in the series… They have won the last two meetings and are undefeated (10-0-4) against he Buccaneers during the regular season since 1999... Radford won 3-0 last season and defeated Charleston Southern, 1-0 on its last trip to the Palmetto State in 2011… RU is 2-0-1, all in the Big South Tournament, against CSU at Blackbaud Stadium winning in 2002 and 2008… The teams tied in 2004, but the Bucs won 3-0 in a shootout.
 
THE SERIES: Radford continues its road swing on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at Campbell.
