SHUTOUT DRAW FOR MEN'S SOCCER VS. ETSU

BOX SCORE |

RADFORD, Va. - Radford (3-3-2) and East Tennessee State (2-3-3) played to a 0-0 tie in 110 minutes of action Sunday evening at Cupp Stadium.

Radford dominated the possession and attacking play in the first half with a 10-3 edge in shots and 3-0 advantage in corners. Over the full 110minutes RU massed a 6-1 edge in corners and 23 total shots with 7 of those on frame. Coulter in goal for ETSU made several good saves, including denying Bismark Amofah through one versus one and a spectacular turn away with eight seconds remaining in the second extra period from a close range header by Luis Grande.

Joe Mayer and Ramzi Dridi each tallied four total shots to lead the Highlander offense. Grande's two shots both were on goal.

"We carried a large portion of the possession and created numerous opportunities to score," Radford head coach Marc Reeves said. "We simply weren't clinical enough with our chances, but even in the last seconds could have won the game."

Dane Wilson for Radford earned his second shutout of the season recording just the three saves. The Highlander defense was stellar throughout the night  "Our backs all played very well, especially Matt Janssen and Jo Vetle Rimstad, remaining concentrated throughout the game"  Reeves added. "We limited a talented ETSU side to just a few chances."

With the draw, Radford closes out its non-conference season at the .500 mark. Reeves said "We have played a strong non-conference schedule with two nationally-ranked teams and pair of defending conference champions. We are hopeful to get a few guys back healthy this week and now our entire focus is on the Big South Season, starting with a very good Gardner-Webb team."

The Highlanders will play host to the Runnin' Bulldogs on Saturday, October 5 at 6:00 p.m.
