RUH'E AND GOLDEN NAMED TO THE VASID ALL-STATE TEAM

RADFORD, Va. – Coming off another successful season, Radford women's soccer racked up two more post season awards as seniors Julie Ruh'e and Sydney Golden were named to the 2013 VaSID All-State University Division women's soccer team on Tuesday afternoon. The duo cap of their Highlander careers with second-team selections, being recognized amongst the best Division I players in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Earing their first all-state nods, Ruh'e and Golden were part of the most successful senior class in program history which concluded its four-years with 56-19-7 (.726) overall and 31-5-5 (.817) Big South records, three regular season titles, two tournament championships and a pair of NCAA appearances.

Making the permanent switch to the midfield in 2013, Ruh'e had a standout senior season. A strong two-way player, she garnered first-team All-Big South honors after leading the team with five assists and also contributing to the stout defense. She finished her career with 19 helpers, seventh all-time in the Radford annals. Just one of two players to start every game, Ruh'e added three goals, including the late-game winner at Longwood, tying the program mark with the 10^th of her career.

In 2013, Golden was instrumental on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. The first-team All-Big South selection anchored a Highlander defense that posted 10 shutouts (46 in four seasons) and a 0.77 GAA. It marked the program's fourth straight season with double figure clean sheets and a sub-1.00 GAA. Deadly on free kicks, Golden ranked second on the squad with six goals, four assists and 16 points. Coming up clutch in big moments, Golden registered a team-best four game-winning goals (2 golden goals) and one equalizer. In addition, all four of her assists set up game-winners in Big South play.
