
RADFORD PLACES NINTH AT FIGHTING CAMEL FALL CLASSIC

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Radford women's golf team concluded in ninth place following Tuesday's final round of the Fighting Camel Fall Classic hosted by Campbell at the par 72, 6,026-yard Keith Hills Country Club.

Leading the Highlanders was Alexandra Austin, who notched her second top-10 of the season by tying for ninth at 228 (73-74-81). Khushboo Thiagaraj fired the best final round by an RU golfer, bringing in a 77. The freshman finished at 239 (82-80-77) to tie for 32nd.

Olivia Jay placed 46th at 250 (86-81-83) and Meagan Board signed for a 258 (88-79-91) to take 48th. Morgan Cox and Megan Frederick ended the tournament in 51st and 52nd, respectively. Frederick shaved 12 strokes off her second-round score to post an 84 for her final round, which counted toward the team tally.

The Highlanders fired rounds of 329, 314 and 325 to finish ninth in the team race. Campbell, ranked 30th in the nation, won its home tournament by 13 shots over High Point. The Camels finished at 895 (296-297-302) while HPU returned a 908 (300-300-308) to the clubhouse.

Overnight leader Sarah Bae of High Point birdied the par-5 18th to capture medalist honors with her 220 (70-72-78). Campbell's Lisbeth Brooks and Nadine White were one stroke behind at 221.

Radford returns to action in March when the team visits Kiawah Island, S.C. for the Kiawah Island Classic hosted by the College of Charleston. The 54-hole tournament will be contested at Kiawah Island Resort's Oak Point and Osprey Point, March 1-3.
