RADFORD LINEUP
The Highlanders will travel Alexandra Austin, Olivia Jay, Meagan Board, Larissa Carter and Khushboo Thiagaraj to their first tournament of 2015.
THE FIELD
Heralded as the largest collegiate golf tournament in the country, this year's Edwin Watts / Kiawah Island Spring Classic will consist of 40 teams. Four of those 40 teams are from the Big South Conference. Host College of Charleston is currently the highest-ranked team in the field at No. 68.
After 36 holes of play, the top 20 teams will play for the championship at Osprey Point during the final round, while teams 21-40 will play for a flight championship at Oak Point.
THE COURSE
For the first time ever, the three-day, 54-hole tournament will take place on Osprey Point as well as Oak Point. After five months of renovations, Osprey Point features four large, natural lakes, saltwater marshes and dense forests. The course, designed by Tom Fazio, was recently awarded four and one-half stars in Golf Digest's "Best Places to Play."
Oak Point also underwent renovations in 2004 and is scheduled for more changes this summer when it will be closed for six months. The course, which offers challenging greens, was designed by Clyde Johnston and is referred to as a shotmakers' course.
UP NEXT
The Highlanders are back in action at the Timacuan Golf Club in Lake Mary, Fla., hosted by Seminole State College. The two-day tournament will take place March 10-11.
