HIGHLANDERS HEAD TO WINTHROP WITH POSTSEASON ASPIRATIONS ON THE LINE

RADFORD, Va. –
Radford travels to Winthrop for its final match of the regular season Saturday at 2 p.m. in Rock Hill, S.C. The Highlanders will be looking to solidify a berth in the Big South quarterfinals, which begin next Friday.
 
LAST TIME OUT
In the 39th minute, senior defender Caitlin Annear headed home a cross from Jordan Lundin to net the game-winner against Coastal Carolina on Wednesday at Cupp Stadium. The goal was Annear's second of the season. Sydney Chervenic was outstanding in goal turning away all five Chanticleer shots on goal and recording her first career shutout.
 
RADFORD ROUNDUP
The Highlanders (7-8-2, 4-4-1 Big South) will look to finish among the league's top-four with a win Saturday afternoon. They enter the weekend three points behind fourth-place Coastal Carolina, which has 16 points.

Kara Wade continues to lead Radford's offense with her 16 points (seven goals, two assists), which are tied for fifth in the Big South. Jordan Lundin is tied for first place among conference players in assists with eight on the year.
 
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Winthrop (6-8-1, 2-5-1 Big South) is ninth in the league table with its seven points. The Eagles are coming off losses at Campbell and at Liberty. The matchup against the Highlanders will be the first home match for the Eagles since Oct. 15.
 
Krystyna Freda is Winthrop's top threat up top, scoring a Big South-best 14 goals in the 13 matches she has played. As a team, the Eagles have struck for 34 goals, which is the top mark in the conference.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Radford is unbeaten in its last five outings with Winthrop. Two of those encounters came in Big South tournament competition. The Highlanders are ahead, 7-4-2, in the all-time series.
 
UP NEXT
RU awaits its fate for the conference tournament quarterfinal matchups. The quarterfinals will take place Friday, Oct. 31 and Saturday, Nov. 1 at the location of the higher seed.
