RADFORD, Va. – Radford travels to Liberty for Sunday's Big South women's soccer quarterfinal matchup at 2 p.m. in Lynchburg, Va. The contest marks the second-straight year RU and the Lady Flames have met in the conference tournament.
LAST TIME AGAINST LIBERTY
In the last regular-season tilt between these two sides, the Highlanders lost a 2-1 decision to Liberty. Hannah Thomas headed home a Jordan Lundin cross in the 35th minute to even the Big South battle at 1 apiece. However, the Lady Flames received a goal in the 76th minute from Crystal Elmers to prevail.
RADFORD ROUNDUP
The Highlanders (7-9-2) finished the regular season tied for sixth place, but comes into the Big South tournament as the No. 8 seed in the bracket. Radford finished the regular season averaging 1.5 goals per game, the sixth-best average in the conference.
Jordan Lundin leads the Highlanders in assists with eight on the season, which is tied for the most by a Big South player. In goal, Katie McCormick ranks third in the conference for saves on the year with 70.
SCOUTING THE LADY FLAMES
Liberty (12-4-1) enters the tournament as the No. 1 seed. The Lady Flames lead the Big South in shots per game (18.06), shutouts (nine) and corners (103).
Brittany Aanderud sets up the Liberty attack with her team-leading eight assists. Holly Van Noord tops the league with her 8.1 shutouts.
UP NEXT
With a win, RU will advance to play the winner of the Gardner-Webb/Campbell match in the Big South semifinals, which are at Bryan Park in Greensboro, N.C. on Nov. 7.
