TOP-SEEDED RADFORD MEETS WINTHROP IN FRIDAY SEMIFINAL

With all top four seeds advancing to Friday's semifinal round in the Big South Tournament, top-seeded Radford (12-4-2) will face #4 seed Winthrop at 4:00 p.m. in the first game of a tournament doubleheader at Bryan Park in Greensboro, N.C.  The Highlanders advanced with a 2-0 win over Campbell, while the Eagles moved forward with a 4-1 result past Liberty.

9718Following the victory Tuesday night over the Camels, Radford head coach Marc Reeves sat down with Rick Watson to discuss the upcoming matchup with the only Big South team to defeat the league champions. Winthrop won the earlier game between the two teams on the final day of the regular season for RU, 1-0 at Cupp Stadium.

"Winthrop is an exceptionally talented and well coached team," Reeves said. "I think we have four excellent teams in the semifinals, and they will be fantastic games. We are excited to back at Bryan Park and will be preparing hard to ensure we are ready to perform well against Winthrop."

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Max Hasentab, who scored the lone goal against RU in the regular season match, notched a hat trick with three goals in the quarterfinal win over the Flames.

THE HIGHLANDERS
Evan Szklennik scored the first two goals of his Radford career in the 2-0 triumph over Campbell, and Stockton Blanchard made his first career appearance as a Highlander with an emergency start between the pipes to replace an injured Aitor Pouseu Blanco. Blanchard made four saves for his first career shutout.
