ALL-DECADE TEAMS FOR MEN’S INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD ANNOUNCED

CHARLOTTE, N.C. Radford was represented six times on the Big South all-decade teams for men's indoor track and field, which were released Tuesday by the conference office.

As part of the Big South's 30th anniversary celebration in 2013-14, the conference is announcing its first-ever all-decade teams to recognize the student-athletes and coaches who excelled in their respective sport since the conference's founding in 1983. A committee of Big South Conference administrators served as the official voting panel to determine the all-decade teams, with fan voting comprising 20 percent of the overall total.

Men's indoor track and field became a conference sport in 1997-98, and the team features eight sprinters, eight distance runners, eight jumpers, four throwers, two heptathletes (2000-09 only) and one head coach. In case of ties, additional honorees were included.

Justin Mosby, Tim Langford and Leon Minor landed on the 1997-99 all-decade team. Mosby was a two-time all-conference performer in the 5,000. He still ranks ninth in the 3,000 with an 8:42.12 pace at the 1998 VT Invitational.

A four-time all-conference honoree in the high jump and the triple jump, Langford owns the fourth-best high jump in program history (6-10.00), which was set at the 1999 Big South indoor championships. Minor was a two-time all-conference selection in the shot put.

Goran Nava, Daniel Oseth and Brian Richotte were named to the 2000-09 all-decade team. A three-time conference champion, Nava went on to compete in the Olympics for Serbia following graduation. He still has three indoor school records to his credit: the 800 meters (1:52.58), the mile (4:08.56) and the 3,000 meters (8:27.43).

Oseth was a two-time Big South champion and a three-time all-conference performer in the high jump. He has five of the top 10 marks in the high jump at Radford, including his personal-best 6-10.25.

One of only three indoor All-Americans in program history, Richotte earned the distinction in 2006 in the weight throw. He possesses the top mark in program history for the weight throw at 69-04.25, which was done at the 2006 VT Last Chance. In addition, Richotte threw at the 2008 and 2012 U.S. Olympic trials in Eugene, Ore. He was a two-time Big South champion in the weight throw and a four-time all-conference recipient.

Men's indoor track and field all-decade team candidates were determined based on being at least one of the following: 1) was a multi-year all-conference honoree in at least one event; 2) was named an All-American; 3) is a member of the Big South Conference Hall of Fame; 4) student-athletes must be a college graduate or left their respective institution in good academic standing; 5) won a conference championship as a coach and/or was voted conference coach of the year; and 6) outstanding performers and every all-conference honoree were among the candidate pool for the 1997-99 all-decade teams.

Candidates who participated in two different decades were placed in a specific decade based on consultation from member institutions. Member institutions also had final determination in regards to inclusion of student-athletes and coaches.
