FOUR ALL-CONFERENCE PERFORMERS GUIDE RADFORD TO SUCCESSFUL FINISH

RESULTS

BLACKSBURG, Va. –
Three school records, four all-conference honorees and two individual titles helped Radford deliver a strong finish as the Big South indoor track and field championships came to an end Saturday at Rector Field House on the campus of Virginia Tech.

The Highlanders finished sixth on both sides of the standings. Radford's men accumulated 55.5 points, while the women racked up 40 points. Liberty won the men's championship for the 17th year in a row behind its 161.5 points. On the women's side, Coastal Carolina hoisted its second straight indoor championship with 203 points.

MEN'S HEPTATHLON
Phillip Hovatter broke the school record with his 4,757 points. His performance was 116 points higher than the previous record of 4,641, which was done by Hovatter at the 2012 Big South indoor championships.

WOMEN'S MILE
A day after dueling in the women's 3,000 meters, Radford's Teresa Williamson and Liberty's Jacy Christiansen were locked in another close battle. Having set the school record for this event one month ago in the same facility, Williamson felt right at home in shaving over seven seconds off that time to chart a 4:50.38.

In addition to resetting the school record, Williamson edged Christiansen by three seconds for the gold medal. With the win, the junior became the first Highlander to win two titles at the Big South indoor championships since 2009 when Shemelia Brandon won the long jump and the triple jump.

MEN'S 60-METER HURDLES
After qualifying 1-2 in Friday's prelims, Vincent Wyatt and Ashad Johnson-Conley finished in the same fashion in Saturday's final. It was a long overdue title for Wyatt, who had placed in the top three the past two seasons.

The three-time all-conference honoree ran a 7.79, which is the third-fastest performance in school history and tied the championship meet record. He became the first Highlander to win a Big South hurdles title on the men's side. In addition, Wyatt went a perfect 5-for-5 this indoor season—winning the 60-meter hurdles each time he took to the starting block.

Johnson-Conley was impressive in his own right, establishing a PR with his 8.05. For the first time since 2010 (Kyle Morse and Matt Dobson – weight throw), two Highlanders earned all-conference honors in the same event. Victor Brew placed seventh behind his 8.55.

MEN'S MILE
Joey Hannah (4:24.69) and Chris Weeks (4:25.42) posted PRs to place 13th and 15th, respectively.

WOMEN'S 60-METER HURDLES
Courtni Pannell reached the finish line in 8.80 to tally a sixth-place performance.

MEN'S 400-METER DASH
Joseph Betts stopped the watch in 49.29 to place fourth.

WOMEN'S 60-METER DASH
Kiki Crews tied Radford's record for this event by scampering to the finish line in 7.65 to place third and earn all-conference honors. Crews is the first All-Big South performer in the 60-meter dash since Brandon received that recognition in 2006.

MEN'S 800-METER RUN
Chaz Porter claimed a seventh-place showing with his 1:57.70 pace.

MEN'S 5,000-METER RUN
With the sixth-fastest time (15:02.20) in program history, Ryan Farnan placed ninth. His effort was a season-best time in the event for the junior.

WOMEN'S 5,000-METER RUN
Williamson led the pack with her seventh-place showing (18:04.36). Nipping on her teammate's heels was Madeline Thomas, who shattered her PR by knocking off 46 seconds to finish eighth at 18:09.28. Courtney Rice (18:44.27) and Emily Marshall (19:12.93) also had PRs.

WOMEN'S 4x400-METER RELAY
The quartet of Michelle Speede, Cara Myrtle, Pannell and Reanna Hamm ran the eighth-fastest time (3:59.47) in program history to place eighth.

MEN'S SHOT PUT
Garrett Knudson unleashed a 49-09.75 mark in his second attempt to finish sixth.

WOMEN'S TRIPLE JUMP
Jamiecka Baker notched an eighth-place showing with her 37-08.75 distance.

MEN'S TRIPLE JUMP
Radford recorded a pair of top-10s in this event as Chris Johnson (44-03.50) and Cory Dunn (41-07.75) finished seventh and ninth, respectively.
