Radford opens Big South play Friday at VMI with a 4:00 p.m. start in the three-game series opener at Gray-Minor Stadium in Lexington, Va. The Highlanders have won seven of their last nine games and enter the conference slate at 9-8 on the season. RU has won four straight series over VMI in the last five seasons.

VMI enters the series at 9-7 overall and 7-2 at home. Conversely, Radford is just 1-4 on the road this season with its lone win coming at Georgia Tech. The Highlanders have dropped four straight road games since defeating the Yellow Jackets in the opening weekend of the season.

SCOUTING THE KEYDETS
Friday will be the first career start for VMI's Reed Garrett against the Highlanders. Garrett pitched in relief during the series last season in Radford. In addition, the series also marks Andrew Woods' initial conference start, an appearance he comes into on quite the roll. Over his past three starts, Woods has gone 3-0 with an 0.45 ERA and has struck out 24 against only three walks.
