HIGHLANDERS END COASTAL CAROLINA INVITATIONAL ON HIGH NOTE



RESULTS

RADFORD, Va. –
The Radford track and field team delivered nine Top 10s, including one victory, as the Coastal Carolina Invitational came to a close Saturday. The Chanticleers hosted the two-day meet at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
 
WOMEN'S 3,000-METER RUN
Madeline Thomas got the day off to a tremendous start by clocking a 10:31.70 to take third. Her PR run ranks second all-time in program history, under 17 seconds from the top pace of 10:14.76 set by Lori Crotts at this meet in 2010.
 
MEN'S 3,000-METER RUN
Just missing a Top 10, Chris Weeks rounded the track in 9:10.44 to place 11th. Joey Hannah also competed, finishing 17th at 9:21.83.
 
WOMEN'S 100-METER HURDLES
Claiming seventh with a 14.57 effort was Jessica Shelton. She was among three Big South runners who finished inside the top 10.
 
MEN'S 110-METER HURDLES
Continuing his success from the indoor season, Vincent Wyatt ran a 13.81 to beat High Point's Dennis Crawford (14.50). For Wyatt, his win marks the sixth time he has stood atop the podium. In addition, Wyatt was only .02 of a second away from tying Radford's 110-meter hurdles record he set last May at the Bob Pollock Invitational.
 
WOMEN'S 400-METER DASH
Michelle Speede charted a Top 10 by stopping the watch in 58.57 to take ninth.
 
MEN'S POLE VAULT
Coy Seneff earned a fifth-place finish with his 12-01.50 mark.
 
MEN'S 800-METER RUN
Chaz Porter covered the distance in 1:57.69 to place sixth.
 
WOMEN'S 3,000-METER STEEPLECHASE
Courtney Burton (12:06.90) and Courtney Rice (12:11.17) concluded in fourth and sixth, respectively. Burton ranks sixth all-time in program history for this event, while Rice sits in seventh.
 
MEN'S HIGH JUMP
Kenneth Jordan earned a fourth-place showing by clearing 5-10.75.
 
UP NEXT
The Highlanders head to Charlottesville, Va. next Saturday for the one-day Virginia Cup hosted by UVa.
