VINCENT WYATT SETS BIG SOUTH RECORD AT VIRGINIA CUP

RESULTS

RADFORD, Va. –
Vincent Wyatt set the Big South and Radford track and field record in the 110-meter hurdles to highlight Saturday's action for the Highlanders at the Virginia Cup hosted by the Cavaliers at Lannigan Field in Charlottesville.

MEN'S 110-METER HURDLES
Just like he has all year, Wyatt continued his presence at the top of the podium by taking first place. However, his seventh win of the season may be sweeter than the rest of them.

Wyatt's time of 13.72 knocked .06 of a second off the Big South record (set by Milan Ristic at last year's Big South championships) and .07 off his PR and program record (set at last May's Bob Pollock Invitational). In addition, Wyatt ascends to the top of the East Region rankings for the event, and is tied for the top time in the nation with Jordan Moore of TCU.

WOMEN'S 1,500 METERS
Teresa Williamson lowered a school record she already had by nearly seven seconds to place second. Williamson stopped the watch in 4:32.43, to beat the previous record (4:39.11) she set at last year's Florida Pepsi Relays. Cleo Boyd of UVa captured gold with her 4:31.19 pace. Williamson has the top time in the Big South by over 10 seconds.

WOMEN'S HAMMER
Claiming her first outdoor title of the season, Ashlen Veatch threw a 165'9" mark to beat Logan Clements of UVa by over 10 feet. Veatch ranks second in the Big South, only trailing Winthrop's Marthaline Cooper (186'6").

MEN'S 1,500 METERS
With the third-fastest time in the Big South (4:00.06), Ryan Farnan claimed third to lead a quintet of Highlanders running in this event.

WOMEN'S 2,000-METER STEEPLECHASE
Courtney Rice logged a third-place effort by completing the distance in 7:37.36.

WOMEN'S 3,000 METERS
Madeline Thomas guided a trio of Highlanders with her 10:47.35 performance to place third. Courtney Burton (11:06.32) and Emily Marshall (11:12.16) finished fifth and sixth, respectively. Thomas' and Burton's times rank fourth and eighth, respectively, in the Top 10 of Radford's record book.

WOMEN'S 100-METER HURDLES
Jessica Shelton (14.49) and Courtni Pannell (14.50) placed second and third, respectively. Following Saturday's competition, Shelton ranks fifth, while Pannell ranks sixth among Big South student-athletes for this event.

WOMEN'S 800 METERS
Williamson continued her impressive form with a second-place showing by crossing the finish line in 2:13.74 (PR), which is the top time in the Big South and ranks fourth all-time in program history. Malina Richardson covered the distance in 2:20.51 (PR) to take sixth.

MEN'S 400-METER HURDLES
David Green (57.04) and Logan Shumaker (57.48) finished second and third, respectively.

MEN'S POLE VAULT
Matching his PR of 12'11.5", Josiah Brunson captured fourth place. His clearance is tied for 10th in program history, and is the ninth-best mark in the Big South this season.

WOMEN'S LONG JUMP
With the eighth-best jump in program history, Kaleice Green placed fourth. Her 18'4.25" leap ranks second among Big South competitors.

UP NEXT
Radford will split up and head to the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C. and the Winthrop Invitational in Rock Hill, S.C. next weekend.
