Following a three-game sweep of Siena in its home-opening series, Radford Baseball continues its eight-game homestand with a home doubleheader against Temple on Wednesday, March 5 at 2:00 p.m. The Highlanders (5-6) and Owls (1-5) will play two seven-inning contests.

The teams were originally scheduled to play single games on Tuesday and Wednesday, but a winter storm on Monday and continuing freezing temperatures throughout today have made for unplayable conditions.

Recap – The Highlanders (5-6) swept Siena in their home-opening series last weekend… Radford won by the scores of 10-4, 9-8 (8) and 14-1… Radford used a eight-run sixth to break a 2-2 deadlock and cruise to the win… The nightcap saw the Highlanders break a 2-2 with a six-run fifth, but could not hold on as the Saints scored six runs in the seventh to send the game to extras… After escaping a Siena threat in the top half of the eighth, Alexander Lee won the game with a one-out walk-off double… In the finale, RU jumped out to an 11-0 lead after three innings and went on for the easy win.

Notables – In the three games, RU recorded 33 runs on 36 hits… In game three, five of the RU's first six batters were plunked, seven for the game and 11 for the weekend… Patrick Marshall hit his first two collegiate home runs in game two and finished the weekend, 5-for-9 with 7 RBI and 4 runs… Lee was 6-for-12 with 2 doubles, 4 RBI and 4 runs… Dylan Nelson improved to 3-0 with the game one win… The Highlanders received three quality starts as all three starters went at least six innings over the weekend… Ryan Meisinger picked up his first win of the season with seven strong innings (1 run, 6 hits, 9 K) in the finale…His nine strikeouts were a career high.s

Numbers –  Radford is batting .282 after batting .349 against Siena… The Highlanders also posted a .446 on base percentage over the weekend, which included 11 walks and 11 hit by pitches… Nelson is holding opponent's to a miniscule .134 batting average in 20.1 innings… Lee leads everyday players with a .429 average, four doubles, .500 on base pct. and .526 slugging pct… Nygeal Andrews is batting .500 (5-10)… RU hit three home runs, one more than it hit in the first eight games… Marshall and Higgerson lead RU with 2 home runs… Marshall has a team-best 10 RBI, while Aaron Scoville has scored a team-high nine times.

Up Next – The Highlanders close out their homestand with a three-game set against Bryant, March 7-9.
