RADFORD WINS FOURTH STRAIGHT, TAKES SERIES OPENER FROM QUINNIPIAC

BOX SCORE RADFORD, Va. - Dylan Nelson upped his record to 6-3 on the season as he registered 7.0 strong innings on the mound for Radford in an 11-3 win over Quinnipiac (15-19) on Friday night. The Highlanders won for the fourth straight game and moved their overall record to a season-high six games over .500 at 23-17. Alexander Lee (4-5) collected four hits and drove in a pair of runs to lead the offense.

Nelson struck out seven without a walk in allowing three runs, two earned, on seven Bobcat hits. Brian Ruditys (2-3) was the only Quinnipiac player to record a mulitple hit game as the Bobcats totaled eight base hits on the night.

Patrick Marshall (2-4) and Blake Sipe (2-3) also tallied multiple hits for the Highlanders. Along with Lee, Marshall, Josh Reavis, and Josh Gardiner all drove in two runs on the night.

QU opened the game with a couple runs in the top of the first to take an early lead, but RU answered with a single run in the first and took the lead for good in the fourth the three runs. RU added three more in the seventh and four in the eighth to take control of the game. The Bobcats came into the game having won 11 of their last 15 games, but fell for the third straight game following a nine-game winning streak.

The beginning of the game was delayed an hour as steady rain fell in Radford during the afternoon hours. Saturday's middle game of the series is set for 4:00 p.m.
