RU TAKES FIFTH CONSECUTIVE WIN WITH 7-5 DECISION OVER QUINNIPIAC

BOX SCORE RADFORD, Va. - Josh Reavis belted a two-run home run, his second of the season, to give Radford a lead for good in the third inning of a 7-5 victory over Quinnipiac on Saturday at RU Baseball Stadium. Reavis' opposite field blast gave the Highlanders a 5-3 lead at the time, which allowed Daniel Bridgeman (2-1) to earn his second win of the season. Ryan Meisinger recorded his second save.

After Radford starter Tyler Costello left the game after facing Lou Iannotti, who opened the third inning with a home run to tie the game at three, Bridgeman came out of the bullpen to work 2.1 scoreless innings. He gave up just one hit, but did issue two walks. Tyler Swarmer stemmed the tide for the Highlanders until the eighth when he gave up a run and was replace by Michael Costello, who failed to record an out in giving up three hits and a run.

Meisinger inherited a mess in the eighth. With the bases loaded and no outs, he gave up only a fielder's choice RBI and a run charged to Costello. He struck out five of the six batters he faced in a 2.0 inning save.

The Highlanders broke on top in the bottom of the first. Reavis doubled to put runners in scoring position for Alexander Lee, who drove in the game's first run with a sacrifice fly. Hunter Higgerson and Reavis executed a double steal of second and home, respectively, to give RU a 2-0 lead, and Zach Woolcock singled home a run to make it 3-0.

Qunnipiac fought back to tie the game with two runs in the second before Iannotti's solo shot in the third. Mike Palladino drove in two runs with a single to cut the lead to 3-2.

After Reavis gave Radford the lead, the Highlanders added another run in the third on an Aaron Scoville sac fly. Josh Gardiner singled home RU's seventh and final run in the sixth.

With the victory, Radford (24-17) pushed its winning streak to five games. Quinnipiac fell to 15-20 with the final game of the series set for noon on Sunday.
